RAIN project. Annual report for 1985

Abstract

The acid addition (Sogndal) and acid exclusion (Risdalsheia) experiments continued in 1985, which was the second year of treatment. At Sogndal runoff continued to respond as in 1984 with dramatic decreases in pH accompanied by SO4, NO3 and labile Al. Aluminium concentrations in runoff indicated a lower solubility relative to 1984. At Risdalsheia the change in runoff chemistry observed in autumn 1984 continued throughout 1985. No levels at KIM catchment are down by 75% and SO4 levels by 35%. Concentrations of most major cations are reduced relative to the control catchments.
