Evaluation of Ecological Consequences of Seawater Scrubber Effluent from the Flakt-Hydro Sulfur Dioxide Removal Process when Applied to a 1200 MWe Coal Fired Power Plant
Abstract
Based on dilution and dispersal calculations for effluents from a proposed 1200 MWe coal fired power plant in the Oslofjord, S. Norway, it is concluded that without treatment of waste water there is a risk for serious deterioration of the marine environment due to lowering of pH and oxygen concentrations. The effects will be less pronounced or insignificant with discharge to open waters
