Rain project. Annual report for 1986
Abstract
Experiments with acid addition at Sogndal and acid exclusion at Risdalsheia continued in 1986, the third year of treatment. At Sogndal runoff exhibited chronic acidification between the acid pulses at each dose. About 30% of the added SO4 now leaves the catchments (up from 15% in 1985). At Risdalsheia sulfur continues to bleed from KIM catchment. Total loss of sulfate after 2 1/2 years of treatment now amounts to about 1/3 of the pool of available sulfate in soils. Runoff at KIM appears increasingly influenced by organic acids with average charge density of 4.5 ueq/mg C and PK of about 4.2
